The Stonefish

The Stonefish. Synanceia verrucosa in latin. It is a carnivorous ray-finned fish with venomous spines. It lives on reef bottoms camouflaged as a rock. It is the most venomous known fish in the world! The fish is extremely well camouflaged and care should be taken to avoid stepping on it. The venom can be fatal. Photographed in the Red Sea in Jordan.
